Agreed Paul. A great lesson that I learned a lot from. Something just clicked watching a and practicing after this. I feel a common thing from other sources is that you are taught the different scale shapes, provided with a backing track and then "Now you can improvise over this". And when trying to improvise something I would always just play up and down the scale in some form, and while the notes are right it doesn't sound melodic, just mechanical. Do you any other videos you would recommend who are similar @rustysguitar1 ?

There are lots of very good guitar tutors on RUclips, but Rusty's videos are always perfect. Skilled, thoughtful, never too much theory (although, I like theory). They're always focused and practical with easily applicable skills. And just the right length to watch again and again to get the most out of them.
Rusty: I watch quite a few guitar-oriented videos on RUclips. I must say that I get more useful techniques from yours than from anywhere else. Thanks for all the good information.
Great lesson as usual Rusty - you've set yourself a high standard that you always seem to attain. You mentioned Jimmy Page/Billy Gibbons, etc - any chance of some more riffs/lessons based on these fellas. The lesson on Jimmy Page 'Whole lotta love' was fantastic. Thanks Rusty.
You explain your lessons in such a great way Rusty . No rushing , you go back over things, and you just take your time to get the main points across in a very ‘one to one ‘ way 👌🏻👌🏻

This is the lesson I needed. I kind of know this stuff but I needed to see it in Rusty's lesson to make me go back to the 'basics' and get this stuff under my fingers to the point where it's automatic that I can start off an improv in a simple yet fundamental way. Thanks a lot Rusty! :)

This is once again bang on, the good stuff and right where I'm at perfect timing, either some random algorithm is guiding these videos or a divine intervention.. it's either that or you have a lot of the good stuff and you genuinely love teaching the real to the point useful guitar knowledge. Like I said Rusty... this vid is bang on where I'm at with improvisation, creation and its OK to emulate others and try understand what they are doing and how to achieve the same thing but in your own creative way, that's where its a challenge, I think I need to read and read with purpose, this video just nailed it- the purpose is do what you love in regards to whatever it is you love about whatever music you think about the most about, the stuff that gives joy, relief, a boost! The songs that has the effect to brings friends together in a common fun way or unique way, to sum it up- connection. Ability to find connections between chords and the groove in chord tones or any means necessary that sound great, keep those, remember by taking notes if you have to, I do I forget and so yeah it helps, especially recording yourself, build up a rapport with the guitar and learn from the vast ocean of knowledge and make that easier by knowing what works, such a broad question- what works? So themes, concepts, genres scales, progressions, grooves, word expression.
@@rustysguitar1 @rustysguitar1 you're welcome anytime Rusty, and yes, failure is not final it's not really even failure not when learning guitar, I'm convinced when you put all of the textbooks aside, learn when to stop trying too hard unnecessarily or being too hard on a particular solo or technique if hurts too much then compensate wisely find a better way.
